This marks the debut release by So Durand on the MAP Label which we are thrilled to present. Having watched the evolution of So Durand over the past decade, it's safe to say he's cemented a space for his signature sound which is rooted in Jungle, Breaks and Bass Music. So Durand also heads one of the capitals most pivotal event series called Pull Up which has had a string of sold-out shows since it's debut. This long time supporter of Rave culture is spreading his wings and flexing his creativity on Begging U.


--Artist statement--
Begging U explores my continuous love for breaks but this time at a much slower tempo albeit maintaining the melancholy and emotive feel I’ve come to appreciate. The thought behind the song is that electronic music doesn’t solely have to be consumed in a club system or in a synthetic polished package. Headphones and distorted textures are just as pleasing. I’m begging that the classic and nostalgic rave sound never disappears. Please… Don’t go, say that you love me.


--Artist Bio--
So Durand is the artistic persona behind Simon Robichaud-Durand, a French-Canadian electronic dance music composer who specializes in genres such as Jungle, Drum & Bass, and UK Garage. So Durand’s music has been played all over the world in countries such as England, Ireland, Germany and even in the prestigious American festival Coachella. He is known for his high energy, yet melodic productions and his high octane DJ sets. Having played an integral part in Ottawa’s bass music scene for nearly a decade, So Durand’s accumulated a long list of international artist whom he’s shared the stage with which varies and includes names such as Hudson Mohawke, Travis Scott, MSTRKRFT, Tchami, Dillon Francis, Cashmere Cat, and Keys N Krates. Throughout the years, he’s played Ottawa festivals such as Escapade Music Festival, Glow Fair and has held residencies in the now defunct Ritual and Babylon nightclubs. Recently, he’s teamed up with long-time friend JFUN to launch Pull Up, a 90’s rave themed party, focusing on Jungle and UK Garage. After a series of sold out shows, Pull Up has quickly become a pivotal part of Ottawa’s dance music scene. In 2022, So Durand released an EP titled This Unruly Kingdom, on the Irish record label Choki Biki Records which was supported by many international DJ’s for his emotive and melancholy high energy dance music.
